Quechee-Village.Com is your resort link for information about the Quechee and Woodstock area, including reviews on the Quechee Balloon festival and the Quechee Gorge.
As you may already know, Quechee was once a small mill town, drawing its power from the Ottauquechee river. Today it is principally known for its gorge (sometimes referred to as the Grand Canyon of the East), Simon Pearce glass blowing, the Quechee Club and the Quechee Balloon Festival and Crafts Fair. The area, not far from the intersection of I-89 and I-91, is a favourite weekend destination for urbanites from Boston and Hartford and New York because it is only just a few hours away.
Downtown Quechee is really only a village...there's a church, an excellent public library and a post office..and that's about it. There are a few small offices on main street, mostly occupied by artisans and real estate offices. It is not a bustling center, but it is touristy. The Vermont Symphony Orchestra plays at the Quechee Polo Field and the village used to be the finishing area for the Covered Bridges Half Marathon. Drawing a slightly smaller crowd every year is the Quechee Scottish Festival.
You can even download a movie about the area!
